Based in Dorset, The Barefoot Building Company specialises in traditional building works.

The company was established more than 20 years ago by Richard Kench, who trained in “furniture making and design” at Rycotewood College in Oxfordshire. He took the craftsmanship he had learnt and applied it to innovative building projects first in the UK, and then in south west France before settling in Dorset in 1996.

Richard’s approach to all Barefoot’s projects – from barn conversions to extensions – is the same: craftsmanship, integrity and a sense of pride in realising clients’ dreams. The process always starts with thorough consultation, taking plenty of time to understand and interpret the brief in the most cost-effective manner before work begins. Richard has extensive experience in working with architects and has much to add to the design stages of any project, large or small.

Richard employs a small, experienced and dependable team of builders, all of whom share his passion for craftsmanship.
